Barbie reflects what is seen as the 'ideal' woman as she is thin, blonde, blue eyes, always has make-up on, perky breasts, long legs, constantly in high heels and she never ages. These false body proportions reinforce unrealistic beauty standards for women. Barbie's clothing is interchangeable while her physical appearance still remains the same. It is argued that her different occupations serve to encourage young girls to pursue greatness and break into typical male dominated career roles, yet she can not escape having these extreme beauty standards. Barbie is sexualised no matter what career she may choose and will always be seen as a sexual object. I am creating scenarios where Barbie is dressed in male dominated careers while being in provocative positions on a pole showing no matter what she does she can not escape her physical appearance of being the 'perfect' woman.
