The Selfie phenomenon is a trend that everyone has heard of in todays western culture, enabled by digital technology we can use one device, a smartphone, to photograph ourselves and disseminate that photo publically via the internet on social networking platform. It is this technology that has become fundamental to our daily lives and integral to how we communicate with each other individually and collectively. As a participant of the selfie culture I have found the abstraction of the virtual world to inspire my work, which shows my reaction to the ubiquitous selfie as I explore how people construct their online identity. As this is a work in progress my images will be updated throughout the upcoming months leading to the exhibition.
