My photographic practice has been influence by the affect that ‘ideal beauty’ and the ‘ideal body’ image may have on men and women. Although the effects of the mass media cannot be measured, it is very probably that it has some influence. Being shown what ‘perfect’ is, 2,000 to 3,000 times per week must have an effect on how we view ourselves and others.

With previous photographic projects I have opposed the ‘ideal’ images shown through Mass media, creating photographs that are opposite to what society sees as beautiful. I have done this to highlight that everyone looks different meaning that achieving the ‘ideal’ look naturally is almost impossible; nobody should be judged for how they look.

Whereas within this project I will be producing photographs that conform to what is seen to make a beautiful face, on men and women. If everyone was to conform everybody would look very similar. I want to produce this piece of work to highlight how unobtainable these standards of beauty really are.
